Vibraject – Local dentist takes away the fear of treatment

Local dentist takes away the fear of treatment

Odiham Dental Care on Odiham High Street is on a mission to banish pain. The practice partners believe fear of dental injections could become a thing of the past with a device called Vibraject. When it’s used, some patients don’t even know they’ve had an injection.

It’s thought that 25% of adults in the UK delay seeking help for a painful dental condition due to dental anxiety, including a fear of injections. Practice partners Nethmin and Anna say the device is helping enormously to give people a good experience.

Nethmin says, ‘This is a gentle way of injecting patients and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Some people say it’s very gentle, others don’t realise they’ve had an injection. We treat a lot of families, and we think it has the potential for the next generation of children to view dental treatment very differently by eliminating the fear of injections.’

Anna believes it’s good to offer anything that helps reduce discomfort from a visit to the dentist, ‘Vibraject is just one of the measures we take to do this. We focus on the person, it’s all part of caring for our patients, including taking away the pain.’

Our Nurses

Hi, we hope everyone has settled into the new year. It has been nice to see some old faces come back and we have welcomed some new patients too.

The last blog introduced or reception team, so now on to our clinical team.

Firstly I would like to let you know a little bit about our nurses, Jackie, Maria and our locum nurse Tina. All of whom have been with us since we opened. They are all qualified and registered with the General Dental Council.

Jackie

Jackie lives near Fleet and has been working as a Dental nurse in this area for over 30 years. She has worked with Mr Young in Fleet a well known and liked, now retired, Dentist. Jackie has also worked with Nigel Foot a specialist in root canal therapy. Jackie now works with me, Nethmin, and Medhi.

Jackie is a fantastic nurse and is able to make our patients feel relaxed and at ease. She is very approachable and has great empathy.

We have had many comments on how well we work together. Having a good nurse who knows how their Dentist works improves the experience you have as a patient.

Outside of work Jackie loves spending time with  her family and sees Rachel, (our receptionist and Jackie’s Daughter) most days and loves seeing her Grandchildren. Jackie enjoys taking her Dogs for walks. Occasionally Jackie will spoil herself with a new pair of shoes!

Maria

Maria too has been a nurse for over 30years. Initially working in general practice and as an orthodontic nurse, then becoming a community/special care dental nurse. Maria works with Anna and again has worked with Anna prior to Odiham Dental Care and still does when Anna works at Farnham hospital providing dental dental care for children and individuals with special needs.

Maria’s experience allows her to excel in providing great patient care and will make you feel at ease and relaxed. Maria is a great asset to Odiham Dental Care.

Beyond Dentistry Maria has two grown up boys who  she loves spoiling. Maria is a bell ringer for her local church and enjoys holidays with her husband in the UK and further afield.

Tina

Tina is our locum nurse. Again Tina has years of experience as a dental Nurse and is a great help when either Jackie or Maria cannot work at Odiham DentalCare.

Being a regular locum means that Tina knows how the practice works and helps maintain our patient care.

Outside of locum nursing Tina has 3 children, one of whom has flown the nest, one about to and a younger daughter whose dancing career seems to be taking off.

I hope that this is a useful guide to who we are. Next time I will talk about our Dentist, including me!

Remember we are conveniently located near Fleet, Church Crookham, Hook, and Old Basing. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and managed to spend some time with Family and Friends. Its amazing how time flies and each Christmas seems to come around faster! Its also one of  our Sons birthday on Christmas eve and our other sons Birthday is in November so this time of year is particularly exciting!

2012 has been a good year. We have grown as a practice and we are grateful to all our patients who have helped us to achieve this. We hope you have been happy with us. In fact earlier on in the year we conducted a randomised survey; 100% of our customers were either very happy or happy with the service we provide. We hope to continue this into 2013 and beyond!

I didn’t really want to write too much today and will continue with introducing the team (including myself) in 2013.

I would like to wish everyone a great 2013 and hope you achieve your goals.

Thanks to everyone that has been invloved in helping Odiham Dental Care during 2012 (which includes our customers, the team, and laboratories, suppliers and even all the blogs and tweets and facebook posts and forums I read). Without you we would not be where we are today and look forward to seeing you in 2013!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Best Wishes

Who you speak to first!

Our two receptionists are Rachel and Lisa. They have been with Odiham Dental Care since we opened.  Lisa is with us Part time and Rachel full time with Lisa normally working every other Monday, every Tuesday morning and ever y other Saturday and Rachel is in most days except every other Monday.

Both Rachel and Lisa have been and are an essential part of our team and without them we would not be here today after 3 years.

Rachel

Rachel currently lives in Fleet with her parents and is in the process of renting a house with her partner in Fleet.  Rachel is Jackie’s (My Nurse’s) Daughter.  Rachel has a keen interest in music and attends many concerts and gigs as possible (local bands and international bands).  Rachel has three sisters and has six Nieces and Nephews; perhaps this is why Rachel is great with kids.

Prior to coming to Odiham Dental Care Rachel managed pubs where she developed her customer care and front of house skills.  You will always find Rachel smiling and find she is very approachable with a great telephone manner. This is very much the opposite to your usual Doctor/Dentist receptionist!!

Rachel is keen to develop her skills as a receptionist to maintain the service we offer our customers.

Lisa

ImageLisa Lives Locally in Odiham and is married. Lisa may be a familiar face to some in Odiham having two Children grow up in Odiham and go to the local schools. They have now flown the nest giving Lisa some extra time and we are grateful that she has been able to give us some of this time. Lisa has two dogs and enjoys her walks with them and plays the saxophone.

Prior to family commitments Lisa ran her own mobile beauty clinic. This gave Lisa the key skills in how to communicate with customers who would often make enquiries and be able to offer them a caring approach. Lisa has a calm and collected approach and will always make our customers feel relaxed and as with Rachel very much the opposite to your usual Doctor/Dentist receptionist!

Both Rachel and Lisa also perform many other behind the scenes duties to ensure the practice runs smoothly and allow the rest of the team to provide excellent dentistry with a caring approach.

We are very lucky to have Rachel and Lisa as our front of house team members we hope you get the chance to meet them soon.

Odiham Dental Care. Introduction to who we are!

Nethmin Warna Uncategorized Leave a comment

Being new to the world of Blogs I thought I’d start with a little bit about Odiham Dental Care and what makes us who we are and stand out from the rest.

I don’t see a blog as a direct form of advertising but a way of you getting to know us a little bit better so that you will feel more confident in putting your teeth in our hands. I hope that comes across.

A summary of what we offer would be ‘excellent dental treatment with a caring approach’. This involves the whole team from when you first call us to when your dental care has been completed.

We make sure we give you the time that you need and work in an environment without any compromises and we care about what we do.

Our care is 24/7 with access to one of the team via our emergency mobile, how many dental practices do that!

I would say we are a flexible team. To help we offer evening, lunchtime and Saturday appointments. We have on a few occasions opened on Sunday and bank holidays for some very grateful patients who couldn’t be seen anywhere else (even by their own dentist)!

We stand out from our competitors as we aren’t known as just the Dental practice on the Odiham High street, or Odiham Dental Care, we are known as Nethmin, Anna, Mehdi, Jackie, Maria, Tina, Lisa and Rachel the team that provide excellent dental treatment with a caring approach who work at Odiham Dental Care!

In my next blog I would like to give you a little more information about each of the team.

Keep smiling

Nethmin.

Tooth whitening should only be carried out by Dentist, qualified Hygienist and qualified dental Therapists – anyone else doing this is doing so illegally. Please warn anyone thinking about going to have this done in illegal clinics. It’s not about protecting our business its about protecting you, the public.
